Aureto has 30 hectares of vineyards, 17 of which are located around the Coquillade Hotel, near Gargas.
The other vineyards border the picturesque villages of Gordes and Oppède.
The diversity of the soils allows for the cultivation of different grape varieties such as Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault, as well as the lesser known Caladoc, Marselan and Chenanson.
It is this diversity that allows us to produce wines of character, reflecting the beauty of our terroir.
In 2021, Aureto will become one of the first climate-neutral wineries in the south of France.
Each carbon emission is carefully analysed in order to reduce it as much as possible. For example, we now use lighter glass bottles to reduce raw material and transport emissions.
The shift to renewable energy has been accelerated and the supply chain has been optimised to move closer to carbon neutrality.
All of our production has been converted to organic viticulture.
To produce quality wines that reflect our local terroir, we rely on two essential elements: humus-rich soil and high biodiversity. This involves, among other things, stopping the use of synthetic herbicides, insecticides and phytosanitary products and reducing the mechanical working of the soil. In addition, Aureto plans to set up its own compost and charcoal production area. The creation of a permaculture garden in the middle of our vineyards supports our aspiration for high biodiversity and regional self-sufficiency. We work together with socially committed associations and institutions to maintain these areas.
In 2019, the entire vineyard will be converted to organic farming. The first organic vintage will be in 2022 and marketed in 2023. The first vintages to be released are Prémices blanc 2022, Aphélie rosé 2022 and Aphélie blanc 2022. Today the theme of the names of the cuvées is around the lexical field of the cosmos, in phase with the policy of partial biodynamics that is beginning to be put in place: Aphélie which is the maximum distance between the sun and a planet, Elyo taken from the name Helios which means sun in Greek, Solale is part of the lexical field of the sun (sol in Latin means sun) but also is translated as a guide in Hebrew.
