An emblematic spot in the city of Avignon, the Halles dazzle with its façade covered in a vegetal wall and give a true up-to-date feel to the neighbourhood.
Made famous by such authors as Peter Mayle and Jean Viard, it has been a meeting place for the people of the city centre for over a century. Here, all generations and types of people rub shoulders, from the all-night partier looking for a bite to eat in the early morning to the average person come to do their shopping, without forgetting the chefs from the best restaurants who buy their produce here. You also come across tourists from around the world looking for those treats so typical of Provence.
People come to shop, look for an exceptional product, eat oysters or have a drink at one of the bars, all in a warm atmosphere. More than 40 vendors offer all sorts of specialties and are ambassadors of Provençal tastes and gastronomy.
Every Saturday from 11am to 12 noon, chefs from Avignon give a demonstration of their talent, preparing a dish created with produce from Les Halles.
Above the market, a multi-storey car park gives you easy access.
