Located between two of the “most beautiful villages in France”, Gordes and Roussillon, Joucas is a small hilltop village in the Vaucluse mountains, facing the northern valley of the Petit Luberon and protected from the mistral by its southern orientation towards the Luberon. From the village, you can see the surrounding plain and the ocher hills of Roussillon with small and large Luberon in the background. As with most hilltop villages in the region, it was this visibility, and therefore the possibility of seeing the enemy arriving from afar, that was one of the reasons for choosing the location of the village.
