CALM AND EXALTATION
VAN GOGH IN THE
BÜHRLE COLLECTION
March 4 September 17, 2017
The exhibition Calm and Exaltation, Van Gogh in the Bührle Collection, organized by the Vincent Van Gogh Foundation in Arles over the spring and summer of 2017, presents an ensemble of eight paintings representative of the dramatic stylistic progression shown by the artist during his brief career.
The loans come from two institutions: seven paintings are from the eponymous collection of the Swiss manufacturer, of which six are today part of the E. G. Bührle Collection Foundation in Zurich, and the eighth canvas, on view at the Van Gogh Foundation for one year, is a loan from the Van Gogh Museum of Amsterdam.
