Discover the famous
village of Les Baux. Perched on a rocky outcrop, its château
overlooks the expansive plain all the way to the shores of
the Mediterranean. The place is full of history and culture:
Van Gogh, Cézanne ou Gauguin all stayed here.
At the archaeological site of Glanum in St Rémy de
Provence, you can admire the ruins of a prosperous Roman city
destroyed in the 3rd century AD.
The Popes' Palace gives gripping testimony to the fact that
Avignon in the 14th century was the spiritual center for the
Christian world. This extraordinary moument is a World Heritage
site.
Numerous and spectacular evidence of its Roman and medieval
past can still be seen in Arles. Nearby you will find the
famous Montmajour Abbey.
The Camargue is an expansive plain, hemmed in by the Rhône
delta and the Mediterranean. The incessant battle with the
Rhône and the sea, combined with the works of Man, have
created a mosaic of exceptionally riche landscapes and environments.
